I am an advanced German student and I needed a dictionary to assist me while reading a book, and this one is perfect for that. It has a very convenient size, but it contains everything that is essential to a dictionary, things like gender, plurals, grammar and sentence examples. It has helped me improve my progress in German since day one. Well worth the price!!
rather fascinating. Inexplicably my 1970 Langensheidt's had started to fall apart, so this volume was needed. Not only does it have thousands more entries, but their way of showing shades of meaning has improved as well.
Just an inexpensive German-English, English-German Dictionary, small in size and print. No colorful illustrations, pics, just text mostly. Purchased for my son, who was in beginning German Language class. Not comprehensive enough by the end of second semester, but a tidy, handy German pocket book for the initial class. (Who wants to spend $$$ on a dictionary the first semester anyway?) If you are in it for the long run, buy something more comprehensive. For the initial explorer, it is easy on the budget.
I don't really want to give it 5 stars, but if I am reviewing the product, and not my expectations, it delivers. It clearly states that it is a dictionary. And it is a dictionary. You can translate words. I was hoping for more of a translation book with common phrases, words etc. This is a dictionary.
My son is taking German and has his entire high school career so this book is very helpful to him and the reason I purchased it.
Lost my other dictionary thru a move....excellent to keep up with not forgetting German...Just wish the cover was of a better material as it is in heavy use...
An excellent book for translating German words into English
We bought this for my daughter's travel abroad adventures to Germany last summer, but she ended up not bringing it because it was too big, bulky and heavy for her to carry (the luggage weight limit was an issue) ... so it's probably good for desktop at home, but not for travel.
